President of Russia has signed a law on salary in currency for workers abroad

Intercomp Methodology Department would like to inform you that President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing Russian companies to pay the salaries of their employees working abroad in foreign currency. This law was published on the Official Internet Portal of Legal Information on February 05, 2018.

Prior to this amendment, the Labor Code and currency law allowed Russian companies to pay salaries solely in rubles, and payments from employers could be received only in an account opened with a Russian bank.
The payment of salaries to diplomatic civil servants and mission employees have been subject to separate amendments as they already used to be paid in foreign currency. It is now no longer required to pay such salaries to banks located in the Russian Federation.

This law is to enter into force within 10 days of its publication.
