Federal Tax Service and Pension Fund online accounts — Guide for employees22 November, 2017

The Federal Tax Service recommends that employers notify their employees that they now can themselves update their personal data in the Pension Fund and the Federal Tax Service through their online accounts.
Due to technical failures, invalid and incorrect employee social insurance numbers have been uploaded from the database of the Pension Fund to the database of the Federal Tax Service. Tax authorities have therefore been compelled to request employees to update their personal data (social insurance account number (SNILS), taxpayer identification number (INN)). It is important to complete such update because if the data of just one employee are incorrect, tax authorities will not accept all the other employees specified in the statement of social insurance contributions. So, if the data of just one employee is incorrect, the Federal Tax Service will decline the social insurance contributions reports for 2017.
The data of all employees must be updated to avoid fines of RUB 500 per employee and blocking of accounts (Article 11(2.2) Federal Law No. FZ-27).
Updating employee data through employers is a rather complicated and time-consuming process so tax authorities recommend that employers inform their employees that it is necessary that they themselves update the personal data recorded in the Pension Fund and the Federal Tax Service through their online accounts. Online applications have developed for convenience and to speed up the process. Employees may use their online account in the Pension Fund and taxpayer online account to correct their data by attaching document scans.
